Passionate and dedicated, loving wife, and loving mother to her four wonderful children – Keegan, 14; Jordan, 15; Leah, 11; and Madden, 8, pictured here.
Meet Cara McEachnie, a seasoned Early Childhood Educator with over 25 years in the field (wow!).
Once an Educator at our Trites Road Campus, she recently became the acting Campus Director on December 12, 2018, and continues to put heart and soul into her job every day. This has become one of her fondest memories of Wee College.
“It’s a great feeling – to know that they have that confidence in me.”
It’s no surprise that Cara’s heart is a large one – she treats everyone like her own family and is an advocate for early learning.
“It’s difficult being a person. Working with children reminds me of all the insecurities I had growing up. I want to make it easier for children – to help them worry less,” she says.
Before we continue, we must tell you something. We have a huge secret that you probably would never be able to guess.
Cara loves mornings!
She enjoys getting up in the morning because she gets to go to a job she loves.
“I love seeing the children every day. I love seeing them excited to learn, watching as they go from crying to jumping in your arms with happiness, and seeing them grow.”
She recalls one time where one child had many difficulties, including movement as an infant. That same child is now thriving in the three-year-old room – laughing and running freely at top speed.
One of Cara’s biggest accomplishments was being able to balance school full-time and working to successfully graduate and begin her journey to New Brunswick while also raising her children on her own. While working in child care didn’t translate exactly from what she learned in school, she quickly developed the ability to care for each child individually.
“Part of it comes from being a mom. I think to myself, ‘how would I feel if this were my own child?’”
Currently, Cara is doing AMAZINGLY in her role as Campus Director. She cares for her staff and is always there for them with an open-door policy.
“I’m always ready to help and ask them what they need,” she says.
Her desire to help comes in part from her advocacy for Early Childhood Education. Cara hopes to become more involved in government so that she can help all educators and the field of Early Childhood Education become recognized as valued partners in education.
How does she do it? ?
“I’m blessed to have a supportive husband even though he’s just as busy as I am, I’m blessed to have found Wee College – it brought back my faith in daycare, and I’m blessed to have a supportive owner – Michaela.”
Cara is equally as thankful to Melody for introducing Wee College to her. She expressed that speaking with Melody almost brings her to tears.
In the future, Cara envisions owning her own Wee College if she moves back to Toronto. We couldn’t think of a better person to bring the passion of Wee College to families outside of New Brunswick.
She has even inspired a few young minds at home to become future educators just like mom.
One thing Cara is looking forward to soon are more experiences with her family. They’ve gone on road trips throughout Atlantic Canada, but a family vacation is on their bucket list (we hear a few are hoping to go to Holland to explore great places) and a trip to Toronto to visit her mom.
We are so thankful to you, Cara, for continuing to be a role model to not only your children, but to the children within Wee College walls, our staff, and future educators. We know you can never learn it all – there’s always something new to learn, but we are so happy you’ve joined our family on this inspirational journey of learning.
Wee appreciate you!
