February 9, 2022Our Wee College Franchise Family Grows Again!
Wee College is pleased to introduce Scott MacPherson and Candy Chi, our newest franchisees to the Wee College family. Every franchisee brings unique experiences and qualities to strengthen our programs and brand. Scott and Candy are no exceptions and we look forward to working with them in creating their campus.
Scott has been involved in education almost his entire life. Through his youth he has worked with local NB summer camps; taught snowboarding as a CASI certified instructor; taught guitar; and tutored his peers. After obtaining a degree in electrical engineering technology Scott realized he was not yet ready to leave the world of teaching. He became TESOL certified and travelled abroad to teach English as a second language in China. Over the next decade Scott had taught at some of the highest ranked foreign language schools in Jiangsu province in subjects ranging from English literature and art to physics and critical thinking.
Chi Ji holds a teaching degree with a focus on English education. She started teaching elementary school in her hometown in China. But, soon realized she had more to offer than limiting herself only to the classroom. During her teaching career she has also been a teaching supervisor and curriculum researcher. She went on to supervise a curriculum research team and establish an early learning center and trained the teachers there to adapt her curriculum for use in China.
Scott and Chi had met as colleagues teaching in an elementary school in China. Soon after they started their own family and began thinking about their future and their son’s education. In 2020 Scott and Chi decided to move their family to Moncton. They knew they wanted to stay involved in education but struggled to find the right fit for them and their sons, Tristan and Ryker. Opening her own early learning center had always been a dream for Chi but it hadn’t seemed possible before now.
“Once we found Wee College, we knew immediately that this was where we belonged. This is truly a place of quality where we can pursue our careers, our love of education, and where our children can also thrive. We know how critical early education can be and how it enriches the lives of our children and our community. There is no better place for our children, and by extension, ourselves to be. That is why we are very excited to be joining the Wee College family and to grow with them together.”
