Monday, February 19, 2018 will mark the first official New Brunswick Family Day holiday.

This statutory holiday highlights the importance of family, bringing focus for New Brunswickers to strike a good work life balance during those all too often long winter months.

So …how will “Wee” families take advantage of this mid-February holiday?

Perhaps it is creating a lasting winter memory with family or friends. Try hitting the slopes; enjoying New Brunswick trails either on a snowmobile or a four wheeler; snowshoeing or cross country skiing the parks, skating outside or simply enjoying all the spectacular winter scenes that await you.

Or perhaps it’s visiting family and friends, sharing a meal or watching that movie you’ve been meaning to see.

To find out what’s on the minds of children for this holiday, I visited our Bessborough campus and was delighted to hear the enthusiastic replies to; “what should we do on our very first family day holiday in New Brunswick?”

Gwen, “I plan on going skating or sledding”

Olivia, “going to the movies”

Ben, “I want Patrick, Edward and all my family and friends to have a paper airplane challenge”

Lincoln, “fun at the arcade and or hop, skip and jump”

Summer,  “sing songs and call Jo Jo!”

Liam, “video games”

Anna, “a trip to the beach”

Mya, fly to Florida

Madeline, “a family movie to see Paddington”

Emily, “dance, dance, dance”

Stella, “a visit with my friend Kate”

Liam, “watch TV, sledding and play hockey”

Caeley, “sleep in and have friends over because they are family too”

We would like to add a couple more ideas to the list. The Wildcats are hosting Rimouski on Sunday February 18^th at 3:00p.m. It is also a Wee College Junior Cats game for club members.  A pizza party starts the fun at 2:00.

Let’s not forget our other professional team in town. The Moncton Magic basketball team have a game against Saint John Riptide on Saturday the 17^th at 7:00p.m.
