A New Year’s Reflection on Possibilities and Kindness
December 31, 2023Embrace the Winter- Local ways to stay active as a family this season
February 27, 2024Emphasizing the Importance of Healthy Practices during Cold Season
As we enter the season where illnesses tend to be more prevalent, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of good hygiene practices, particularly handwashing, to maintain a healthy and safe environment for our children.
As we all know, young children are more susceptible to illnesses due to their developing immune systems. Therefore, instilling good hygiene habits is crucial to preventing the spread of germs and keeping everyone in our centres healthy and happy.
Here are some key points regarding handwashing and hygiene practices that we encourage all families to follow:
- Frequent Handwashing: Encourage your child to wash their hands regularly, especially before meals, after using the restroom, and after playing outside. Teach them to use soap and water, and to scrub their hands for at least 20 seconds.
- Proper Handwashing Technique: Remind your child to wash all parts of their hands, including the back of the hands, between fingers, and under nails. A helpful tip is to sing a favorite song together while washing hands to make it a fun and engaging activity.
- Hand Sanitizers: While handwashing is preferred, having a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your child’s backpack can be helpful when soap and water are not readily available.
- Cough and Sneezing Etiquette: Teach your child to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or their elbow when coughing or sneezing, and to dispose of used tissues properly.
- Regular Health Checks: Keep a close eye on your child’s health and communicate with us if they are not feeling well. If your child is exhibiting symptoms of illness, please keep them at home until they are fully recovered to prevent the spread of germs.
- Routine Cleaning: We have continued to enhance our daily cleaning routine at our facilities, paying special attention to high-touch surfaces and toys. Your cooperation in maintaining good hygiene practices at home will complement our efforts at Wee College.
By working together, we can create a healthier environment for our children and reduce the risk of illness spreading within our community.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the well-being of all our children.
Wishing everyone a healthy and happy season ahead!
